Description
This trail is straightforward regarding route finding as it is an out and back. Tall rock walls rise on either side for much of the way, and there are some drop offs near the trail to be mindful of. Be prepared for some steep sections and some creek crossings. You can continue upstream as far as you like and find the swimming hole of your choice. The route mapped here takes a turn on Last Chance Trail to reach the Punch Bowls, which is one of the best places to swim and makes a reasonable turnaround point for a day hike.If desired, you can continue on Santa Paula Canyon Trail beyond this junction and explore farther up the canyon. Many people make this an overnight trip by staying at one of the backcountry campsites higher along the trail.
