There and Back
Jesusita trail begins at the Cater Water Plant, with parking areas on either side of the road and a wooden kiosk with a map of the region. The hike begins with a short downhill and a right-hand turn at a spur that leads off to a park, followed by a long traverse above a creek. At about a mile in, the trail becomes shaded by oak trees, and even crosses a small tributary once. Feet could get wet if it has rained recently! After this, the trail pops out onto an easement through private property (legal) going past a horse corral and onto singletrack. The trail begins to steepen here, taking switchbacks up sandstone ledges with fortunate shade from oaks, toyons and sycamore trees. At about mile 2.8, the trail gains a ridge which leads soon to Inspiration Point, and the famed with views over the city and ocean. Head back down to the car the way you came.
