Scenic Overlook Trail

The Scenic Overlook Trail starts at the National Park Service visitor center and follows the road used for bus tours to the park's scenic overlook. The tour road is a winding 3.6 miles through several pastures including the Windmill Pasture, home to the park's herd of wild bison. The bison may thwart your plans for an easy out-and-back hike by parking themselves on the road forcing you on some "off trail" adventures to bypass the herd.
