This trail is open all year. On the rare occasions when it does snow, access to the Dagelma Trailhead may be difficult. There is poison oak along the trail at all times of the year, and ticks may be present during the warmer months. The road is paved to the trailhead, but there are no amenities and no potable water.
Path Type
Point to Point
This 1.6-mile loop leaves the Dagelma Trailhead on the far-right end of the parking area, then climbs steadily for 0.2 miles to a ridgetop. From there, it does a short descent to the junction with Sinns Bar Trail #972. Here, the Prospectors Loop Trail #974 goes left and traverses a hillside through a mixed-conifer forest before reaching the junction with Osprey Trail #973. Going left here will soon return you to the parking area. Turning right on the Osprey Trail will take you down to the shores of Applegate Lake.
