Tualatin Hills Nature Park Loop Trail

Although the Tualatin Hills Nature Park is only 222 acres surrounded by suburban development, it is an exceptional example of riparian and forest restoration and preservation. Additionally, it is the only park of its kind in the Portland area that is directly accessible via the MAX Light Rail system. Located at the confluence of Beaverton Creek and Cedar Mill Creek, the park gives visitors a unique view into what the Beaverton/Hillsboro area may have looked like hundreds of years ago: a dynamic and richly productive low-lands marsh ecosystem. From the trail and boardwalks, watch for unique wildflowers such as star Solomonas seal, orange honeysuckle, Pacific starflower and the northern inside-out flower. You'll also have a chance to see great blue herons, rough-skinned newts and numerous bullfrogs. A couple of cautions: to make the full loop around the park youall have to walk down SW 170th Avenue for several hundred yards. We recommend crossing the road to get onto the sidewalk. This can be a busy road, so be careful here and watch for traffic. You should also expect mosquitos, especially in the summer, because the park is a healthy wetland.
