At this time (2017) the southern part of the trail is closed for construction. When it opens, the distance could be extended to 3 miles or more.

Park in the main parking lot for Gateway Rotary Park off of Silverdale Way and start from there. Hike toward the trailhead. The trail is made up of dirt, boardwalk, and gravel. The boardwalk portion is through the wetland part of the Clear Creek Trail and sometimes has water seeping through in lower spots. This section is a beautiful hike that is nice and easy. Traffic can be heavy with walkers and dogs, but most everyone is courteous to each other's space.
