Dante's View Trail

Dante's View + Dante's View South is a 1.70-mile out-and-back trail that traverses across a scenic ridgeline in Death Valley National Park. Located 5,476 feet above sea level, on the crest of the Black Mountains, Dante's View is a popular tourist destination due to its incredible views overlooking Death Valley and Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America.This short trek traverses a steep and rocky ridgeline that offers breathtaking views with every step. Dante's View is easily accessible to most people, and you are not even required to hike to enjoy it. The trailhead, and parking area, are located at about the same elevation as the highest point on the trail and feature almost identical views as you find along the hike. Whether or not you hike the ridgeline, take a moment to read the interesting infographic signs in the parking area that describe the view.This short hike is completely exposed with no shade or water. Be prepared with sun protective clothing and enough food and water to sustain you. Sunrises and sunsets are particularly stunning in this area, making for some incredible photography opportunities.
