The East Loop Trail is one of several equestrian trails inside Washoe Lake State Park. Portions of the East Loop Trail overlap with parts of the North and South Loop trails. The East Loop, marked in blue on park trail maps, follows a mostly-flat dirt course, the surface of which alternates between gravel service road, dirt double track and soft sandy single track along its path. There is no shade along the route, making the few views of the shimmering water of nearby Washoe Lake look pretty appealing in the hot season. Most trail intersections aren't marked, though park trail map signs are present at a couple different places along the course. The trailhead is near the core park area, which also has horse pens and a riding arena. Water and bathrooms are located at the trailhead.
