Description
Opened in the summer of 2021, the Mt. Dean Stone Preserve Trail is an extension of the Sousa Trail that switchbacks up a narrow piece of public land and encircles the summit of Mt. Dean Stone. Grades are manageable for most, but keep in mind that it is a fair bit of climbing. There are several beautiful views of the Missoula valley on the way up the trail. Full out-and-back length is roughly 9 miles in addition to what you must cover to reach the start of the trail via Sousa Trail, Barmeyer Trail, or House of Sky Trail.
