Path Type
Point to Point
The Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve is located 1.1 miles east of I-280 on Edgewood Road. Access to the Baywood Glen Trail is found on the Sylvan Trail, about a tenth of a mile form the picnic area located at the park entrance and visitor center. There is a relatively large parking lot at the entrance.
Leaving the Sylvan Trail, the Baywood Glen Trail climbs gently up the hillside via a series of switchbacks, eight in all. The trail is a relatively narrow, dirt path that makes its way through the woods. It is completely shaded, making it a good trail to take at any point in the day. Due to the canopy of trees, there are fewer wildflowers found along this trail compared to other trails in the preserve. The trees also obscure the views of the surrounding hills and the San Francisco Bay. The trail finally emerges from the woods at the junction with the Franciscan Trail.
Following the Franciscan Trail to the left will allow you to explore other parts of the preserve and enjoy the views and grasslands found there. Following the Franciscan Trail straight ahead will allow you to eventually meet up with the Old Stage Road, which you can follow it back to the parking lot and visitor center.
