Description
Duder Regional Park Loop is a moderately challenging hike located near Clevedon, Auckland. This loop travels through farmland and to scenic Whakakaiwhara Point. This hike is 3.8 miles long and gains 699 feet of elevation.This hike starts from the Duder Regional Park parking lot. Begin hiking east. After about 20 yards, you will see a sign for Farm Loop. Go left here. Hike uphill for 0.3 miles before enjoying 0.2 miles of downhill hiking. You will be hiking through active pasture and may encounter cows and sheep. Hike uphill for another tenth of a mile. Around here, you should start to have views of the beautiful Hauraki Gulf. There are many benches along the trail that offer views of the gulf. After another 0.5 miles of hiking through pasture, you will come to a junction and go left.Hike for 0.8 miles on Whakakaiwhara Peninsula. This is the most scenic portion of the trail as you have spectacular views of the gulf on both sides. Once you have reached the stunning Whakakaiwhara Point, take some time to enjoy this vantage point of Hauraki Gulf. Waiheke Island, Ponui Island, and Pakihi Island will also be visible from the point. From here, turn around and hike 0.8 miles to return to the last junction. Go left here to continue the loop. You will now follow the Duder Sustainable Trail for 0.5 miles before merging onto a gravel path. Hike for 0.7 miles to return to the trailhead.Duder Regional Park is open for hiking year-round. It is accessible to pedestrians at all times. Vehicles can access the park from 6am-9pm in the summer and 6am-7pm in the winter. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are not allowed on this trail. Duder Regional Park Loop offer a fantastic opportunity to explore the breathtaking beauty of Whakakaiwhara Peninsula.
