Description
Grey Lynn Greenway is an easy hike located in Auckland. This trail travels through three of Auckland's parks as well as some residential and commercial areas. The path is mostly paved, but there are also sections of boardwalk. This out and back hike is 3 miles long and gains 307 feet of elevationThis hike starts at the edge of Grey Lynn Park off of Williamson Ave. There is 2-hour parking available here. Begin hiking northwest on a paved path. Almost immediately, you will pass by a playground and public restrooms. Continue hiking past rugby fields. The trail is lined with trees and has multiple benches along the way.After 0.5 miles, you will leave Grey Lynn Park and turn right onto Dryden St. Then you will turn left onto Hakanoa St. Turn right to enter Hakanoa Reserve and continue on the trail. After 0.1 miles, you will cross Sackville St and continue on Grey Lynn Greenway. The next 0.1 miles is a commercial area. You will then cross Richmond Rd and enter Cox's Bay Reserve.You will now be hiking on a boardwalk next to Cox's Creek. After 0.2 miles you will continue on a paved trail next to sports fields. After 0.3 miles, you will cross West End Road. Here, you will walk to the shore of Cox's Bay. Enjoy the view and rest up before retracing your steps to return to the beginning of the trail.Grey Lynn Greenway is open for hiking year-round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. This trail is also suitable for biking. Grey Lynn Greenway is a great trail for exploring three of Auckland's green spaces in the heart of the suburbs.
