The Temple Trail

The first half of the trail is not particularly challenging. It's steep in places, but the trail is well worn and smooth. This persists until you reach the river crossing. There is no bridge to cross; you simply have to wade across. It's not very deep (in May, less than knee deep on an adult), but it can be chilly early in the year. There is a lot of cactus in the area, so don't wait too long before putting your shoes back on! From here, the trail winds up into the canyon and into a side gully. I did spot some poison ivy nearby, but it should be easily avoidable. Just don't let your dogs or kids go running off into it. Once in the little gulley, you'll be staring at a rock scramble. It is not challenging, but a slip would result in an uncomfortable fall and potential injury. Once at the top of the rock scramble, the way is easy again, and it's only a short jaunt to the Temple. It is recommended not to enter the Temple as it's scrambly and there can be wet and loose rock.
