Vietnam Memorial Trail

The trailhead is located on West Jomax Road just west of North Dysart Road. Look for the two rock piles that mark the beginning of the trail and park nearby on the shoulder. The trail begins with a mild climb up the hill along a very clearly marked and well-maintained path. The side of the trail contains multiple signs that present you with a history of the Vietnam War, statistics on the number of veterans missing/killed in action from each branch of the military, and several memorial signs honoring some of the fallen soldiers by name. About 1400 feet from the trailhead, there is a flag pole with an American flag, and some benches to sit on and reflect. There is also a guest book to sign and write comments. This spot also offers a beautiful view of the Vistancia area. The trail continues up a moderate incline that passes several benches for resting and taking in the scenery. The summit has a large rock cairn and a final bench. The views are lovely and worth the trek to the top. The trail continues along a slightly more technical section until it meets what appears to be a very steep road that leads down to an old abandoned rock quarry. This seems to be the end of the official trail and a good place to turn around.
