Description
From Van Wyck Meadow, look for signs marking the start of the T.C.C. Trail as it leaves towards the west. Almost immediately, cross over Bootjack Creek (which eventually becomes Redwood Creek) and start ascending gently at first. The peaceful trail winds in and out of densely wooded ravines, gaining and losing elevation. You'll be treated to lush, ferny forest which is especially magical during a storm or in the fog. At a trail junction with the Stapelveldt Trail, continue straight to keep contouring along the more level hillside. The last 1/2 mile takes you south to the trail's terminus at the Dipsea Trail junction. The T.C.C. Trail is named for the Tamalpais Conservation Club (http://www.tccmarin.org/), a group that has been maintaining and preserving the area's trails continuously for the last 100+ years. The T.C.C. Trail (like many others in the area) was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of the New Deal program in the 1930's.
