Path Type
Point to Point
From a paved parking lot just off the Natchez Trace Parkway, a pleasantly rolling path leads northwest a little more than a half mile to the start of the loop trail. Hiking it anti-clockwise at the split takes you along a narrow ridge for another half mile or so before beginning a switchback into a cool, shaded hollow. There are a couple of creek crossings (bridged) and plenty of places for a picnic; do be sure to carry out your trash and anyone else's you might happen to come across!
After a bottomland stroll past an epically weathered tree (with a guardian!) you'll eventually begin the climb up out of the hollow, heading south and then east back to the trail junction before returning to the trailhead.
