Description
Please note, this section of the Centennial Trail is directly across from the Spokane Rifle Club for a portion of it. If gunshots frighten you, your kids, your dog, or anyone else you may be with, this may not be the best section of the trail for you. The restroom at the beginning of this section is know as "The Icebox" by local rangers. Not only is it one of the only restrooms not located at a trailhead, but it also gets extremely cold due to its location. This chilling truth has helped create the nickname for the restroom. From "The Icebox" continue north on the well paved trail. The section where this trail starts is fairly thin on trees due to the 1994 forest fire that took down most of the trees. This section has been slowly regrowing due to low nutrients in the soil. Because of the lack of trees, this section offers great views across the river. This section of trail doesn't change much elevation, but you'll start in what feels like an open field, and end up in a well covered forest at the Wilbur Trailhead.
