Description
If you're starting from the Ridge Trail junction, you'll be on an easy downhill journey along the back of the hill headed towards the pond. As you hike down, keep your eyes out for some white powdery substance on the eroded hillside. That white stuff mixed into the dirt is mycelium, the vegetative network that will at some point spawn mushrooms! Eventually, you'll hit some steeper declines down to an open meadow. You'll catch your first glimpse at the pond down below, surrounded by vegetation, like an oasis in the desert. Horseback riders will often take a break here with their steeds; be sure to be respectful around the horses.
