There and Back
Red Rock Point is an awesome little trail that takes you into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. It offers amazing views of the Canyon and of Lower Falls. The trail is paved single track or wooden stairs. It drops quite a bit pretty quick so you should be in decent shape to do the trail. It starts at a lookout point on the north rim drive. From Lookout Point you can see the red rock the trail is named for and the stair section far below. From the parking area head toward the lookout and you will see the trail jutting off to the right. It is not signed. The trail is forested at first as it climbs down into the canyon and also has great views of the river below. You will soon reach the stairs that are the final push to the lookout. At the base of the stairs is the end of the trail. You are right by the huge red rock. The views of Lower Falls here are amazing. This is one of the most iconic areas on earth and no matter how often I visit I am still awestruck every time. This trail is an out and back so take your time on the steep climb back to the parking lot.
