This fun and easy hike up at Snowbird Ski Resort is the perfect way to introduce young kids, or really anyone for that matter, to alpine summer hiking. Starting out from the upper plaza of the resort, the short trail starts off on a paved path but turns into a rocky dirt trail. In the summer months this whole area turns into one of the great wildflower zones in Utah. With incredible views down, across, and up canyon, the loop trail often has moose, marmot and hummingbirds joining you along the way. Watch the tram soar overhead to the peak, which can be reached by paying a fee and boarding at the plaza. There are a few mountain bikers along the way, but the area is not as popular with bikes as many other resorts because of the rocky trails. Start out on Miners Road heading west to the granite outcropping where the trail forks to the left (south) and head into Gad Valley for a short while. On the left are the switchbacks of the Big Mountain Trail right inside the aspen treeline. Head back down Gad Valley via these switchbacks to loop back to the plaza.
