Description
Mitchell Point is a great option for hikers of all ages because of its proximity to Mount Hood and the hike's low intensity. The trailhead offers restrooms and ample parking space, and it is easily accessible from the interstate. This is a great option for those searching for a round-trip hike that takes less than two hours and also provides rewarding views of the Columbia River Gorge. The hike immediately gains elevation over a number of switchbacks. The hike is on the north side of the mountain, so expect to spend most of your time hiking in the shade until you get close to the top. The trail becomes exposed with cliffs on both sides as it approaches the summit, but there is sufficient space to set up a picnic and stretch out.
