Description
The Lady Finger Point or Egg Island Overlook Trail is a short 0.5-mile there-and-back walk to stunning views of Bridger Bay and Egg Island. Egg Island is a nesting area for many gulls, making the point a great spot for birdwatching on the island. The lake and surrounding wetlands are home to over 250 species of birds and form a stopover on the Pacific Flyway between North America and South America. Between 4 million and 6 million birds feed and nest on the lake every year. The largest populations of white-faced ibis and California gulls in the world make their homes at the lake. In addition, you can see large populations of black-necked stilts, American avocets, and young pelicans feeding on brine flies and brine shrimp. If you want to make this hike a little longer, you can follow the trail down to the Bridger Bay Day Use Area from the campground parking area to access the Great Salt Lake and the showers. This point is also a great spot to catch the sunset if you're staying at Ladyfinger Campground.
