Loop
This is a longer, 4.3 mile trail that lets hikers get a taste of everything that Possum Creek has to offer. Making a loop all throughout the park, the Orange Trail allows visitors the ability to see the remnants of an old amusement park in historical Argonne Forest, fishing ponds, Argonne Lake, and three very different prairies. The trail intersects and follows the Purple, Pink, Blue, Green, and Red trails, allowing visitors to explore other features of the park. The trail is relatively flat, but does have a fair bit of up and down along the way, though nothing lasting over a couple of minutes.
Argonne Forest contains remnants of an amusement park from the 1930's and 1940's. It was created by Null Hodapp and named in honor of the 322nd Field Artillery Unit that fought in the Argonne Forest in France during World War I. Argonne Forest Park was a popular hangout with a swimming pool, shooting range, baseball diamond, dance hall, auto racetrack, and cabins. Stop at the marked sites along the way to discover remnants of this park.
