Las Brisas Loop

The Las Brisas Loop is a hike that pieces together a couple different trails along the Peavine Trail Network through the residential hills of northwest Reno.With development in the area relatively sparse until recently, a small network of paved, single track and dirt roads have popped up in the open space and hillside of the northwest. This 1.9 mile trail is about 10% paved and 90% single track.Parking is available in Terrace Sports Complex, or onstreet parking can be found along the way. The trail stays near the homes and streets, however it's easy to look past this fact and have a relaxing hike with a small bit of elevation gain while taking in the views of the Peavine foothills to the north and the lower mountains of the Sierra Nevada to the south. The only negatives of this hike would be the couple street crossings, though the streets generally stay quiet.From the sports complex, the route descends before crossing the road. After the crossing, the path is windy single track that climbs and falls over a few small hills and traces through the sage brush. You may find mountain bikers on this portion, so be aware. The trail climbs before crossing the street once again and switching back as it climbs back toward the sports complex.There is no shade along this hike. The Terrace Sports Complex offers free parking, trash cans, bathrooms and water. In all this hike is a relaxing walk on the outskirts of Reno, and a good jumping in point to the vast network of trails in the northwest portion of town.
