Pinyon Point Loop

The Burn Canyon Trail System consists of about 14 miles of single-track trail for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. The area is located just west of Norwood and can be accessed by a smooth gravel road (AA42 Road/Norwood Burn Road) that should be passible in any vehicle. There are a couple of possible starting points: a small lower trailhead at the bottom of McKee Draw (access to McKee Draw and Flat Iron Loop), the large main upper trailhead a mile past (access to all trails), and roadside access 1.5 mile further (access to Cedar Post and Hideout Canyon Loops, high clearance 4x4 recommended).The Pinyon Point Loop, at 3 miles in length, is perhaps the best trail in the Burn Canyon Network. To access it you'll start from the main trailhead but first need to hike a section of the Buttermilk Trail, which will add a bit of mileage.Once on the Pinyon Point Trail you'll enjoy the scenic high desert terrain. The entire western and northern sections of the loop walk alongside the edge of the mesa, offering great views of Burn Canyon, Naturita Canyon, the mouth of McKee Draw, and the La Sal Mountains of Utah.Once you've completed the loop, you'll again hike the Buttermilk Trail back to the trailhead to finish.
