Sutherland Trail

Park at the trailhead parking lot on Old Hebron Road 0.1 mile from the large boulder at the junction of Texas Hill and Old Hebron Road. The trail starts with a short level section, crosses a small brook and quickly ramps up through a steep but short section. The grade backs off a bit and continues 0.4 miles averaging 16% grade to a logging road. The trail crosses the logging road and continues through forest. At 1.7 miles there is a trail junction. Left is a short rah to 'the ledges'. Right is to the summit. For many, the ledges are the destination. There are good views north across Plymouth and to the White Mountains. The summit is an interesting 0.3 miles meandering over and around smooth rock features in search of the summit cairn. There are limited views including a view south across Newfound Lake and on to Mt. Cardigan. This trail is on a conservation easement and is maintained by the Plymouth Conservation Commission.
