FNST: Snow Hill Rd to Brumley Rd

This segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail (also known as the Florida Trail) travels through portions of the Little Big Econ State Forest and the Mills Creek Woodlands. After following Snow Hill Rd for a short distance, the trail quickly turns east through the forest, skirting a pond and crossing several fire breaks. The trail is well marked with orange blazes and easy to identify when it intersects the breaks. After about a mile, the trail breaks out of the trees and crosses a large meadow behind some residences before returning to the forest. Shortly after this a small sign informs you that you are leaving the State Forest and entering USFS land and the trail turns southwards. From the field onward the trail begins to be interspersed with some low-lying areas that are bridged by elevated walkways made from 4x4 beams. About 1/2 mile from the turn the trail again breaks out of the trees into a meadow beside some pasture land and starts up a slight incline to the Brumley Rd crossing where it jogs west for a short distance than continues south. Overall the trail is firm and dry with walkways over the wetter areas. There are a few sandy patches, mostly around the fire breaks where the ground has been disturbed, but most of the trail provides easy footing with a few roots interspersed.
