The Triangle Lake-Caribou Trail start as shown in this description, is found in the fir forest at a marked trail junction along Widow Lake to Snag Lake Trail. Turn off to the east here to hike to Triangle Lake in the Caribou Wilderness.
Triangle Lake-Caribou Trail is a gently rolling trail in thin fir forest with wildflowers. Although it passes Black Butte and there are mountains all around, the trees hide all the views of these. After the first 1.3 miles in the forest, the trail comes to a small lake and the National Park/Caribou Wilderness boundary, marked by a sign.
Continuing on into the Caribou Wilderness, the trail remains thinly forested and easy to follow. Several tiny lakes are passed before arriving at Triangle Lake, where this trail ends at a trail junction with one of several trails in the Caribou Wilderness. From Triangle Lake one can continue on to visit many more lakes and a few Caribou Wilderness trailheads.
