This trail connects the South Shore Lake Josephine Trail with the Grinnell Glacier Trail. It starts over by the boat dock at the head of the lake on the south shore and wraps its way through the trees along the head of the lake. From here, you step up onto a raised boardwalk, keeping your feet dry as you traverse through willows. You have a great view of the lake. Birding for warblers and other riparian birds is great.
As you approach the creek, you drop down to a nice trail through the trees, but still close to the lake, then out through the low growing plants to a bridge over the creek. This section gives you incredible views up the drainage to the mighty peaks made of vertical rock and snow.
Once across, you can take the level North Shore Lake Josephine Trail around the lake or continue on the trail as it climbs up to the Grinnell Glacier Trail.
