Sturtevant Loop Trail #11W14.A

Sometimes called the horse trail, this is an alternate route to the Gabrielino Trail (NRT) 11W14 from Fern Lodge to Falling Sign Junction that goes up and around the canyon near Sturtevant Falls. At Fern Lodge, there is a trail junction with the Sturtevant Loop Trail going left and the main Gabrielino Trail (NRT) 11W14 bearing right. The Gabrielino Trail (NRT) 11W14 contours around a steep cliff and past the top of the falls. While it offers great views, it is rough in a few places. This trail is more suitable for stock and those intimidated by heights. It climbs gently with a long switchback then contours around to rejoin the Gabrielino Trail (NRT) 11W14. It also avoids two stream crossings.
