Tahoe Donner Nature Loop

The Nature Loop in the Tahoe Donner development is a 2.2 mile scenic path open to walking, trail running and mountain biking.The trail starts at the Trout Creek Receation Center at the bottom of the parking lot, and skirts the driving range for a short distance before a sign mapping out the area appears. Slightly further on the path forks. The trail nearest to Northwoods Blvd is far less scenic with much of it on a rocky double track. The southern fork immediately crosses and wooden footbridge, and weaves along the edge of the wetlands. Much of this route is along plank boardwalk, perched atop the streams and ponds that make up the wetlands.At the low elevation point where the trail crosses Trout Creek, and while there are no points on the trail that are immediately creekside, hikers will have a few opportunities to easily veer from the trail and to the stream's edge.The path generally follows a well-packed dirt single track, though there are areas where it crosses rooty and rocky ground. As a whole the trail makes a nice destination to get out and walk a generally easy route. Fall colors during the later season are an added benefit.Parking is available in unreserved spaces at the Trout Creek Recreation Center and is available during daylight hours. Hikers should expect to cross paths with a few others on the trails as it is a popular dog walking area, though for the most part the trail is a peaceful escape. E bikes and horses are not permitted on the trail.
