This trail starts at Black Star Canyon Road as a double wide fire road and then breaks off into a dried up stream going to the falls. You can bypass the waterfall and continue on the fire road (as many of the mountain bikers do) straight to Beek's Place. The trail is has a lot of crowds even on weekdays there are people on trail so get there early or mid-afternoon if you want to avoid congestion. Going up the dry creek bed is definitely worth it. Looking at it in an exploratory way it brings back memories of being a kid in the wilderness. Once you get to the falls you can turn back and go the car making it a 10k-ish day.Or turn back to the main trail and continue up the fire road. I decided that I wanted to climb up the side of the waterfall to reach the top ( there is a fixed rope section of climbing). The views after breaking through the brush are amazing and worth the work. From there you can follow a trail back to the road and continue up to Beek's Place.
