Description
The Stone Mountain Loop Trail follows the orange circle markings. The trail starts behind the bathrooms at the parking lot. You'll follow the creek until you head up to a clearing made by an old homestead. Take in the views then continue down the trail. You'll make a couple of streams crossings before you get to Stone Mountain Falls. Head up the stairs and continue for a long time going uphill until you arrive at the summit. Take in the beautiful views of Appalachia from the rocky moon-like surface of the summit. The trail is marked on the rock where there are no trees. From here, continue downhill with intermittent stairs until you arrive at a road crossing. Shortly after the road, you meet up with the beginning of the loop and head back to the parking lot.
