Campbell Mesa Trails

Campbell Mesa is a collection of loop trails in the ponderosa forest just east of Flagstaff. From the shady glades atop this low hill you can enjoy views of Mount Elden, Anderson Mesa, and Mormon Mountain as you walk, run, or bike along the gently rolling terrain. The interconnected loops allow for any amount of distance on your outing, and the proximity to Flagstaff makes this an ideal getaway before or after work. This may be one of Flagstaff's better kept secrets, and the small parking lot at Campbell Mesa is rarely full despite the convenient location. You are likely to have much of the extensive trail system to yourself on any given day. Keep an eye out for wildflowers, native birds, deer, and elk among the trees. Trail Descriptions Sinagua Loop: This is the shortest trail, making a 1-mile jaunt to the southeast of the trailhead. Continental Loop: A 1.8-mile loop to the northwest of the trailhead that overlooks Walnut Canyon Lakes, Rio de Flag, and the Country Club area of East Flagstaff. Anasazi Loop: A sub-loop of the Larger Campbell Mesa Loop that takes a 2.7 mile tour around the top of the mesa, offering good views of Mount Elden. Walnut Meadows Loop: This 4-mile loop journeys furthest to the south, gaining views of Anderson Mesa and Mormon Mountain. Take this route to link up with the Arizona Trail. Campbell Mesa Loop: This is the longest trail, 5.7 miles circumnavigating the top of the mesa. The gentle gradient makes for a mild and sustained distance hike or run.
