The Silver Lake Reservoir Loop is a 2.21 mile trail that combines dirt and paved sidewalk and is a local favorite. The outer loop follows the main outer portion of the trail. The trail makes a complete loop around the reservoir and offers views of the Silver Lake hills, nearby Griffith Park, the Verdugo Mountains and the peaks of Angeles National Forest. This trail is easily accessible and appropriate for all athletic levels. There is an inner loop as well, following much of the outer loop trail, but with occasional cutoffs that take you more toward the lake. These trails are popular amongst walkers, joggers, hikers and runners.
At the southwest corner of the reservoir you will find the Silver Lake Recreation Center with bathrooms, a playground for children and bulletin boards with information about community programs and activities. The southwest corner also has two big dog parks which are open daily between 6am and 10pm.
Along the loop you will find benches, drinking fountains and big green spaces where people can picnic and relax. You may also find vendors selling goods and food trucks scattered throughout the loop. This is a great place to exercise, or relax, and feel part of the community.
