Loop
The Town + Meridian Loop is a roughly 3 mile loop that provides scenic views and easy hiking. The trail follows a paved multi-use pathway that is great for hiking, jogging or bicycling. An added bonus is that this loop is regularly cleared of snow during the winter months, making it a great option for those looking to get outside without having to grab the snowshoes or skis! The loop can be started from Trails End Park. This park features restrooms, a playground area, and a very popular skate park.If hiking in a counter-clockwise direction you'll follow the Meridian Connector pathway as it parallels Meridian Boulevard, passes by some homes, and then passes beside the Mammoth middle school and high school. You'll then turn left, pass beside the library and follow the Library Connector Trail as it descends down toward Mammoth Creek and Hayden Cabin. At the junction take a left and follow the Town Loop through the Inyo National Forest and to Sherwin's Vista (a fantastic viewpoint with views of the Long Valley Caldera and the White Mountains in the distance). The trail then descends through some nice forest before crossing under Meridian Boulevard through a tunnel. Take a left after the tunnel and you'll find yourself back at Trails End Park where you began.
