Description
This is a popular hike to some great waterfalls in Little Cottonwood Canyon. This hike is easy and great for all skill levels including children. In fact, when I did this trail I saw about ten different groups of families hiking to the falls. Some people even brought hammocks to relax under the trees. The trail begins right off the side of the road in a pull-out. You will see the trail sign here and you simply follow the .15 mile to Lisa Falls. The trail winds under tall leafy trees and it makes for a relaxing hike. Lisa Falls is right at the base of Twin Peaks and O'Sullivan Peak. These giant mountains have tons of granite in them and the falls cut right down the center of a narrow granite canyon. The falls are really neat to see but I found that most of the fun was hiking above the falls into a narrow canyon. To hike up into the canyon, you will see a semi steep trail to the left of Lisa Falls by about 50 ft. There are plenty of trees, branches, and rocks to hold on to in order to get higher. The trail will force you closer to the creek and that makes the trail slippery. I wouldn't recommend children coming up this side. But, you will find plenty of granite boulders and rocks at the base of the falls that kids would love climbing on! If you look closely at the rock you will see tons of rock climbing bolts, anchors, and chains. I can't speak to rock climbing but I can imagine it would be a great place to try! I didn't go too far up but it would be fun to come back and see what else is way up there! This is a quick and easy hike to a great waterfall!
