Description
This fire road climbs quickly out of Twin Elk Lake. This section is not particularly scenic, but it does offer a shorter alternative to the Chimney Rock Trail. After the intersection with the Chimney Rock Trail (.7 miles), the road levels out into a sparse but very pretty section of deciduous trees that is awesome in the fall. The last 100 yards of the trail is steep and rocky, climbing to Elk Falls Overook. The overlook offers great views of the surrounding valley and the falls below. The last section of the trail is off limits to cyclists and it is common to see mountain bikes stacked at this point.
