The trail begins by heading east on Ram Valley 22 / Service Road 22. It gently meanders through grasslands, lush chaparral, rocky boulders, and colorful wildflowers. Pinyon pines and oak trees dot the landscape along with rocky mountains and green hills. Following the Arizona National Scenic Trail (AZT), the route continues south and ascends to Forest Road 422, the turnaround point. Enjoy a long descent on the AZT heading north through the Boulder Creek drainage surrounded by tall grasses, wildflowers, and scenic views. You'll return to Ram Valley and Sycamore Creek. Stay on the AZT to complete the loop and return to the start. WATERWater collected in the backcountry should be treated prior to consumption.
