This is a well-maintained trail (crushed rock and dirt) starting at the Travertine Nature Center. This is an out-and-back hike with a loop around the Bison Pasture Trail. The trail is really easy and runs along the spring-fed creek/river. There are great views of several small waterfalls along the trail. The water is extremely clear. The park museum at the start of the trail has maps available. Follow the path under the highway and continue around Bison Pasture Trail. The trail follows the river with some nice tree coverage. The trail is marked with direction signs. You can stop at the bison paddock to see a few bison roaming around. The climb up Bromide Hill on the Bromide Hill Overlook Trail starts off fairly easy, but the last tenth of a mile to the top is fairly steep with lots of CCC stone work going up. Be sure to notice the crystal-clear water! This trail is mostly fine dirt to crushed rock with some paved areas. Once you are done taking in the view, retrace your steps back down the overlook, around the other half of the Bison Pasture Trail, and onto the Travertine Creek Trail back to the parking lot.
There are several mineral springs around the area and along the trails.
