Description
From the kiosk at the trailhead, make your way to the right, and to a bridge crossing the stream. From there, follow a long forgotten county road past a campsite and a pit-toilet. Continue up the hill, the trail will continue to become more narrow as you go. At approximately mile .5 the trail will turn to the right, leveling out somewhat, where you'll come up on a short rocky section of trail with some steps - use caution. From there, the trail meanders along the ridge maintaining a very easy grade until you pass the second storm (~mile .75) where the trail will start making its way downhill through some sharp switchbacks. Watch your footing in this section, and be aware of other trail users around you, especially cyclists who may be traveling at speed. When you see the trail going into the rhododendron use caution, as the trail becomes very tight through this section. After you visit the reservoir, cross the stream and follow the old road bed that parallels the stream back to the parking lot.
History & Background
Historic reservoir and remnants of old pump house and water pipe.
