Description
The trail can be accessed from either parking lot. The entrance on the Linville Rd end is along the edge of the wood line while the entrance from the Lisa Drive lot is at the bark-park. The trail appears to be travelled in a counter-clockwise direction and is pretty easy to follow until you dump out into a big field at the back of the park. There, you can travel along the outer edge of the field and enter back onto the regular walking path for a few feet before trail breaks off to your right or turn right (east) and follow the southeast boundary of the field up toward the lake. There are plenty of roots and climbs as you make your way around. The trailhead map states that it is five miles, while my GPS said 4.75 miles, and here some of the tight switchbacks have been consolidated so the mileage is even shorter.
