Traces Trail

The trail starts at the end of the amphitheater parking area off Mathews Arm Rd and heads out around the campground. This is a straightforward stroll on a fairly smooth trail, which is slightly steep in a couple spots. The "traces" refer to signs of the settlers who once inhabited the woods in the area. Look for old roads, overgrown fields, rock piles and walls, and the remains of a homesite along the trail. There are a number of junctions along the trail, but each of them has posted trail marker that illustrates which way to go to stay on the trail. Thanks to Larry W.
