Description
Trail starts at Three Forks and ascends alongside Cameron Creek. Olympic National Park calls this the "Cameron Creek Trail." Trail receives little to no maintenance. Log crossings over creek at times are barricaded by log jams and other hazards, proceed with caution. Log crossings can be completely underwater during high water events. You'll go through overgrown meadows as you near the junction with the Grand Pass Trail (sign might be gone/damaged). Established campsites along this trail are limited due to being overgrown from lack of use or maintenance. After passing the junction, Olympic National Park calls this "Cameron Pass Trail" the trail becomes very hard to follow but know it will take you again over the creek at a shallow section. The trail becomes more established and slightly easier to follow after this as you pass through beautiful sub alpine meadows. Trail is hard to follow again as you approach Lower Cameron Basin. At this point just do your best to stay on established use trails in this area. Campsites are available in the trees. Trail then becomes quite clear as it ascends rocky terrain to the moonscape of Upper Cameron Basin. From there you'll ascend a scree slope with a clear route to ascend to Cameron Pass and the intersection with the Lost Basin Primitive Trail.
