Park hours vary by season, but are typically sunrise to sunset. A $5 fee is required to access any trail in the national monument.
Path Type
Point to Point
Meandering out past ponds and wetlands and returning through a Ponderosa forest, this trail heads west from the park visitor center to a distinctive rock feature straddling Boulder Creek known as "The Caves." Wildlife signs from elk to coyote and bobcat are common features. The more remote feeling of this trail also makes for a great birding environment.
The mix of enclosed forest and open views of Pikes Peak make for a great hike. A small hill on the southern portion of the trail provides a small challenge, though the rest of the trail is flat. As with all trails in the national monument, the Boulder Creek Trail is well signed, though you need to pay attention to the signs at the visitor center to get started.
