Hog Canyon is a great hike that starts at the Josie Morris Cabin. It's an extremely scenic trip into a box canyon that gets its name because it was used as a natural corral for hogs when the area was a ranch. The trail is relatively flat. The trail starts in the backyard of the cabin. Just go through the fence and follow the trail. The open land of the ranch is very scenic and green compared to the surrounding desert. If you come at the right time of year you may be able to see a very rare orchid. You will soon see the canyon you will hike up. The hiking is easy and gorgeous. All the green is a striking contrast in comparison to the deep desert canyon. Eventually you will come to where the canyon bottom ends. This is the end of the hike. You can see how this would be a perfect spot to keep animals with only a little fencing.
