Features

Owned by Central Illinois Public Service Company (C.I.P.S.), the lake and some surrounding land was leased to Illinois Department of Conservation in 1986. The lease grants management authority for public recreational use. White-tail deer, coyote and blue heron can be observed along with other woodland and aquatic animals. Outboard motors are limited to 25 hp. Sailing, swimming and water skiing are prohibited. Special length and creel limits are in effect for largemouth bass and crappie. Check current Illinois regulation handbook for details.

Forage

Small gizzard shad make up the bulk of the forage base. Golden shiner and a variety of young-of-the-year are also used extensively. Insects (and their larvae) and crayfish are important at times of abundance.

Seasonal Movements

No seasonal movements have been observed. There is however, movement to and from hot water for all species throughout the year.
