Features

The Chetek Chain is a popular navigable chain of six lakes that is heavily utilized by recreational boaters and anglers. No-wake areas are posted under all bridges and channel areas. Prairie Lake is noted for its floating and submergent bogs. These range in size from half an acre to 3-acres and since some are not attached to the bottom, wind and moving ice can often change their location.

Forage

Golden shiner, common shiner and various minnow species offer a diverse forage base. Juvenile bluegill, perch and crappie are important forage for larger predators.

Seasonal Movements

Walleye and northern pike move into Moose Ear, Tenmile, Pokegama and Rice Creek during their annual spring spawning migrations. During summer, a movement of walleye and northern pike from the northern lakes into the southern lakes has been observed.
