Gull River Overview

Walleye stocking maintains an excellent fishery. Tullibee are forage for trophy pike and walleye. Good numbers of bass and crappie too. Ideal mix of structure and weeds.

Features

Located in the north central part of the state just northwest of Brainerd, MN and just south of Nisswa, MN, Gull Lake is part of a chain of seven lakes consisting of Spider, Upper Gull, Bass, Roy, Nisswa lakes and Lake Magaret. Gull provides ample opportunities for recreation and is well known for excellent walleye, northern pike and bass fishing. An intensive stocking program and an increase in catch and release practices has maintained the walleye fishery. The quality of the public access facilities makes getting onto the lake easy and enjoyable. Booming-out Bay and the “narrows” to Upper Gull can be closed to fishing during the opening day period if spawning walleye remain concentrated in the area. Be sure to check the current regulations.

Forage

Yellow perch, redtail chubs, common shiner, golden shiner, darters and logperch are common. Additionally, white suckers and the deep water forage base of tullibee contribute to the forage base for larger game species.
