Features
Berlin Lake was impounded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1943 to control flooding and to provide an industrial water supply.
Water level fluctuations of 10- to 30-feet are considered normal. The continually changing water levels can make navigation difficult and hinder the use of launching ramps. Many of the shallow-water areas and no-wakes are marked with buoys. The Price Road Bridge is very low to the water during normal summer pool.
This lake is extremely popular with both fishermen and recreational boaters. Expect heavy boating traffic and delays at boat landing during weekends and holidays.
Forage
Common shiner, golden shiner and darters are present. Crayfish, carp, perch, sucker and gizzard shad are also utilized.
Seasonal Movements
A minor movement of spawning muskie and walleye up the Mahoning River occurs in spring.
